I’m Beth Kirkbride, a Sheffield-based journalist that loves all things digital. I’m currently optimisation editor for ten National World sites including The Star, Yorkshire Evening Post, and Edinburgh Evening News. It’s a role concentrated on digital strategy and growth, which means I love all things data, SEO and learning how to use new social media platforms.
Before taking on this role, I was audience editor at The Star, Sheffield’s local newspaper, which means I oversaw the paper’s digital strategy in terms of SEO, with a view towards building our audience and driving subscriptions.
I graduated in 2018 with a degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Oxford, and I’m also an NCTJ-accredited journalist, having obtained my gold-standard diploma with News Associates part-time in 2019. As a freelance journalist prior to my role at The Star, I’ve worked with outlets including OK! magazine, Clash, The Daily Express, The Telegraph, Cosmopolitan and more.
I edit the Music section of my website, The Indiependent, which I founded in 2014 as a platform for aspiring journalists.
